Norwalk man faces charges for recording video, traveling in excess of 130 mph

NORWALK, CONN. (WTIC Radio)-A Norwalk man faces charges after an investigation revealed he was traveling more than 130 miles an hour on Route 7 in Norwalk , video-taping it and posting it on Instagram and Facebook, according to State Police.

Police said the incident occurred March 28th, showing an unknown Chevrolet traveling 133 MPH on Route seven, where the posted speed limit is 55 MPH. The video lasted 18 seconds.
State Police said the information on the Instagram account indicated the user was Joe Tavella III, including information that the vehicle was a 69 Nova.


Using the DMV database, police determined the 1970 Nova was registered to Joseph Tavella, 36, of Norwalk. After learning of an active warrant for his arrest, Tavella turned himself into State Police.

He faces charges including reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle while using a hand-held device, and second-degree reckless endangerment.
