Norwalk police sergeant faces charges in fatal crash

Norwalk, Conn./WTIC Radio - A Norwalk police sergeant is on administrative leave following his arrest in a fatal crash from last year.

State police say Shannon Sherry, 48, was involved in a two-vehicle crash in Interstate 84 in Southington last April 19th that left a New Britain man dead.


Sherry is accused of driving his vehicle across the middle lane of exit 30 westbound and striking a pickup truck operated by Elijah Vallier, 24, that went off the roadway and rolled over.

Sherry is facing two counts, including misconduct with a motor vehicle and failure to maintain a proper lane.

He's free on bond.

In a statement, Norwalk Police Chief James Walsh said "our deepest condolences go out to the family of Elijah Joseph Vallier."

Norwalk police are conducting an internal affairs investigation.
