NORWICH, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The Norwich Police Department is crediting two unknown civilians and several of their police officers with saving someone's life.
Police responded to the report of someone threatening to hang themselves on the bridge near the Norwich Marina in the area of West Main Street shortly before 6 a.m. Friday.
Two individuals were holding onto the individual who was on the other side of a fence, preventing them from falling off and going into the water below.
That when three Norwich police officers joined in holding the person for re-inforcement.
In negotiations that took several minutes, police ultimately convinced the individual to climb back over the fence to safety.
The individual was then transported to Backus Hospital for a mental health evaluation.
