Norwich, Conn./WTIC Radio - Norwich police have arrested one of their own.
A statement from Police Chief Patrick Daley says Officer Ryan O'Connell has been arrested following an investigation into missing funds from the Norwich Patrolmens Benevolent Association.
O'Connell, 42, is a 16-year veteran of the force.
In a State Police affidavit, O'Connell is alleged to have stolen between $3,000 and $5,000 from the Norwich PBA for personal use.
O'Connell is a past president of the organization.
The discrepancy was first revealed in December of 2021.
In early 2022, the warrant states O'Connell admitted to using PBA money for personal use at times.
He's charged with larceny.
O'Connell is on paid leave and is due in court February 27th.
