One dead in Windsor highway crash

Windsor, Conn./WTIC Radio - A crash on Interstate 91 in Windsor Tuesday left one person dead and the highway shut for hours.

State police say the call came in around 11:16 a.m. for the crash involving a tractor trailer and another vehicle.


Investigators say the car driven by Frank Mute, 22, of Meriden, was traveling southbound on I-91 near exit 35 when it collided with the rig from behind.

Mute was in the center lane at the time of the crash.

Troopers say Mute sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

There's no word yet on a cause of the crash.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact the State Police Troop H barracks in Hartford.
