New Canaan, Conn./WTIC Radio - State police continue to investigate a late Tuesday night crash that left one person dead and the driver injured.
Just after 10:00 p.m., troopers were dispatched to the scene at exit 13 northbound of the Merritt Parkway in New Canaan.
A preliminary investigation found that the driver of the vehicle, James Russell of Bridgeport, somehow lost control of the vehicle, which struck a tree and burst into flames.
A passenger in the 2011 Honda Accord was pronounced dead at the scene.
Russell was treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Police haven't released the name of the deceased victim.
They ask anyone with any information or who may have witnessed the crash to call them at the Troop G barracks in Bridgeport.
