
Stamford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Stamford police are investigating a hit-and-run crash Tuesday morning that left a pedestrian dead.
According to police, the 74-year-old female victim was crossing West Main Street near Alvord Lane just after 6:00 a.m.
She was struck in the west bound lanes by a vehicle believed to be traveling at a high rate of speed.
The offending vehicle did not stop, police said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, Stamford Police said "this was a devastating crash, which caused heavy damage to the vehicle’s windshield and
possibly deployed the airbag, along with causing horrendous injuries to the pedestrian."
Investigators are looking for a red sedan, make and model as yet unknown.
