
Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - A planned vote by a legislative committee on the future of electric vehicles in Connecticut that was scheduled for Tuesday is now off.
The Regulation Review Committee was poised to vote on a measure to phase out gasoline powered new vehicles by 2035.
Governor Lamont pulled the plan Monday, for now, ostensibly due to a lack of yes votes on the measure.
While pronponents have hailed the proposal as a win in the fight againt pollution and climate change, opponents say its too much, too soon with an infrastrcute not equipped handle charging stations, a lack of such stations, and the cost of electric vehicles.
Lamont has a news conference scheduled for 1:30 Tuesday at the state capitol.
