Fairfield, Conn./WTIC Radio - A Fairfield police officer was injured Thursday after he and other officers attempted to stop two suspects in an alleged larceny.
Officers received a report of two men removing items from a Brentwood Avenue home just after 6:30 p.m.
The suspects, Marquis Craig, 28, and Javion Baker-Colemen, 20, both of Bridgeport, were spotted traveling on a moped.
An officer ordered the suspects to stop, after which the moped swerved around a stopped car and struck one of the responding officers, knocking him to the ground.
The officer continued to assist in the pursuit, despite his injuries and the two suspects were taken into custody.
Craig and Baker-Coleman are being held on numerous charges, including larceny, larceny with a motor vehicle, and assault on a police officer.
The injured officer was treated for multiple lacerations and significant bleeding.
The moped was reported stolen out of Stratford, said police.
Fairfield Police Chief Michael Paris said he was with the injured officer Thursday night, praising him for his actions despite being injured, adding "we are all wishing him a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back with us.”
