NIANTIC, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A correctional officer at the York women's prison in Niantic is accused of having sex with an inmate.
State police say the alleged encounter between Officer Wesley Applegate, 38, of New London, and the 21-year-old female inmate occurred last November in the officer dining area at the prison.
Applegate was arrested Monday on a single count of second-degree sexual assault. He is due in New London Superior Court on Thursday.
