
North Stonington, Conn./WTIC Radio - Health officials in North Stonington are reporting the discovery of a rabid raccoon in town.
The animal was found Monday on Cedar Drive.
Test results came back positive for rabies.
There've been no reported cases of anyone having been bitten or who may have come in contact with the infected animal.
The virus, which can be fatal, is spread primarily throuugh saliva in open wounds, breaks of skin, or mucous membranes.
Those who have questions or concerns should contact the Ledge Light Health District or the North Stonington animal control office.
