Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police announce several recent reckless driving arrests amid a rise in speeding-related incidents.
Troopers say they clocked Agron Sadiku, 29, of Woodbury, driving a BMW at 126 miles per hour on I-84 Westbound near Exit 32 in Southington around 1:25 a.m. Sunday. Sadiku allegedly told troopers, when they pulled him over, he claimed was driving 80 miles per hour before he was placed under arrest.
Sadiku is charged with reckless driving and second-degree reckless endangerment.
While conducting speed enforcement efforts Monday evening around 6:05 p.m., troopers say Gary Fuentes, 21, was allegedly driving over 100 miles per hour in a gray Wolkswagen sedan in the left lane on I-91 Northbound near Exit 24. Fuentes allegedly drove over 120 miles per hour to get away from troopers when they tried to pull them over before they stopped the chase.
Fuentes was later arrested at his residence and charged with reckless driving, disobeying the signal of an officer, passing on the right, failure to maintain proper lane, making an improper turn, and interfering with an officer, and first-degree reckless endangerment. Bond is $15,000.
Around 8:15 p.m., Troopers noticed Qais Taher Nawaf Kadi, 21, of Plainville, allegedly driving an Infinity G37 sedan 122 miles per hour in the area of Exit 34 on Route 9 Southbound in Berlin. Kadi, who was swerving on the highway, went over 130 miles per hour to escape troopers, who nearly gave up on the chase when he got off at Exit 27 in Cromwell.
Kadi is charged with reckless driving, disobeying the signal of an officer, failure to maintain proper lane on a limited access highway, and first-degree reckless endangerment. Bond is $10,000.
Connecticut State Police plan to continue their crackdown on reckless driving and speeding.
