MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Connecticut State Police report the passing of a retired State Trooper.
Trooper First Class Patrick Dragon, of Brooklyn, passed away Saturday of COVID-19 complications. He was hospitalized at Hartford Hospital, officials say.
TFC Dragon was among emergency personnel who responded to the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown.
State Police say he was a proud member of the 107th Training Troop and entered the State Police Training Academy on January 9, 1998.
TFC Dragon served as a patrol trooper at Troop D in Danielson, as a Resident Trooper in the town of Sterling, as a Detective in the Eastern District Major Crime Squad and as a Detective in the Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit.
He retired from State Police on February 1, 2018.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial is being planned for Spring 2021.
