Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - It's the beginning of the state's annual sales tax-free week.
Now through Satuday, August 24th, purchases of clothing and footwear under $100.00 per item are exempt from the 6.35% sales tax.
It's the 24th year Connecticut has held a sales tax free week, coinciding with back-to-school purchases.
State Department of Revenue Services Commissioner Mark Bougton says even if multiple items priced under $100.00 are purchased, the tax free mandate will apply to the entire purchase.
Sales tax is charged on items such as handbags, jewelry, and other accessories.
