Cheshire, Conn./WTIC Radio - Six correction officers at the Cheshire Correctional Institution were injured Monday when an inmate became combative.
State correction officials say the incident began when the inmate was found to have contraband in his cell.
The inmate approached the officer's station, punching two officers in the face.
Officials say the inmate continued to fight with other officers that arrived to lend assistance.
The prisoner was later safely secured.
Four of the injured officers were transported to the hospital.
Two others refused treatment and remained on duty.
Connecticut State Police are handling the investigation.
