Hartford, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Drought conditions in Connecticut continue to improve.

The latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows Windham County,  and most of Tolland, New London and Middlesex Counties free of any drought intensity.

Most of Hartford, New Haven, and Fairfield Counties are in the abnormally dry category, as is all of the immediate Connecticut shoreline.

The majority of Litchfield County remains in the moderate drought stage.

Heavy rains in September and during the first part of October have helped to ease the drought.

As recently as August a good part of the state was at a severe-to-extreme drought level.
