New Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - The state Office of Inspector General has determined a New Haven police officer was justified in opening fire on a suspect who'd shot at him during a pursuit last year.
The I-G's report released Thursday finds that Officer Chad Curry returned fire after he'd been wounded while in pursuit of a suspect identified as Jose Claudio.
The pursuit stemmed from a crash investigation last October 7 in the area of Chapel Street and Blatchely Avenue.
The report says Claudio began running from the scene and fired as Curry gave chase.
The officer sustained two gunshot wounds, one to the shoulder and one to the ear.
Claudio was arrested later that day in Hartford.
