Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Wednesday is the opening of the 2025 Connecticut legislative session.
Governor Lamont will deliver a state of the state address to a joint session in the Hall of the House.
New members--20 in the state House, 2 in the Senate--will be sworn in.
Leadership in both caucuses will remain largely the same.
Top on the to-do list this long session: implementation of a new two-year budget.
The state is currently enjoying a roughly $4 billion dollar surplus in its so-called "rainy day" fund and around $400-million in the general fund.
Lawmakers are also expected to debate revisions to fiscal guardrails to control spending.
The session runs through June 4th.
WTIC News/Talk 1080 will carry the governor's address, set to begin shortly after noon.
