Middletown, Conn./WTIC Radio - Despite predictions that it would be one of the busiest Labor Day weekends on the roads in recent years, State Police did not report any fatalities for the extended holiday period.
Last year, three people died on the roads during the Labor Day weekend.
The enhanced traffic enforcement detail began at 12:01 a.m. on Friday and concluded at 11:59 p.m. Monday.
During that period, troopers reported over 6,100 calls for service and 497 motorist assists.
State Police also handed out 377 speeding citations and reported over 800 other violations including unsafe lane changes, seatbelt violations and distracted driving.
There were 345 crashes including two with serious injury.
Troopers also made 30 arrests for DUI, down from the 41 they logged a year ago.
