Stewart for Governor

New Britain, Conn./WTIC Radio - Former New Britain mayor and gubernatorial candidate Erin Stewart is responding to reports she rang up hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of personal items on a city credit card during part of her tenure at City Hall.

The Republican says all of the charges, over $200,000 worth, were "budgeted for, submitted, and subject to annual audit."

The purchases in question, including diapers, Halloween costumes, party favors, clothing, meals and a private club membership, among other things, were culled from financial records over a nine-year period, from 2016 to last year, under the guise of "office supplies and working lunches."

Stewart says the timing of all this isn't a coincidence, citing what she says is a dip in Governor Lamont's declining poll numbers and attacks from the Democrat machine, City Hall in New Britain, and Republican opponents.
