Stonington, Conn./WTIC Radio - Body cam footage from Connecticut State Police showing the shooting of a suspect in Stonington last week has been released by the state Office of Inspector General.
It appears to show troopers from the State Police Violent Crimes Task Force opem fire after 42-year-old Vaughn Malloy fired at them on December 21st, killing a state police canine in the process.
Malloy was given several verbal police commands to exit a Mechanic Street home that night.
The report says he slipped out a back door, armed with a handgun.
Troopers in the video repeatedly tell Malloy to stop, after which the canine and non-lethal methods were used to stop the suspect.
However, the report says Malloy opened fire in the direction of police, who then returned fire, wounding Malloy.
He was pronounced dead at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.
The inspector general, state police and the state's attorney are continuing their investigation.
