Street takeover suspect arrested

Tolland, Conn./WTIC Radio - State Police have made an arrest in connection with several so-called street takeovers, incidents in which a large number of street racers, their vehicles and spectators wreak havoc on local roadways.

Under arrest is Jefferson Duron, 20, of Norwalk.

State troopers say he was one of the brains behind a number of the incidents that have included vandalism of vehicles, some police cars being boxed in and other criminal behavior.

The latest such episodes occurred Sunday night throughout New Haven, Tolland and Hartford counties involving an estimated 200 people.

Duron is facing a host of charges including inciting a riot and motor vehicle offenses.

Bond was set at $250,000.
