New Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - A New Haven man who was set to go on trial for murder Tuesday took a plea deal instead.
Twenty-eight-year old Lewis Santiago was set to be tried in the 2023 shooting death of 26-year-old Tyrese Blue, Jr. of New Haven.
State's Attorney John Doyle says Santiago instead changed his plea on the felony murder charge to guilty.
The shooting occurred during an illegal gun sale.
Santiago is scheduled to be sentenced September 16.
He could get up to 35 years in prison.
