MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Middletown Police arrest a former high school math teacher over an alleged inappropriate student relationship.
Police say James Hanson, 35, allegedly had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a minor student.
He taught at Middletown High from August 2022 until November 16, 2023. That's when the allegations came to light and an investigation began.
When that investigation started, Hanson was immediately placed on administrative leave.
He's facing five counts of second-degree sexual assault, two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, use of a computer to entice a minor, and risk of injury to a minor.
Hanson’s arrest is the result of a lengthy investigation conducted by Middletown Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit and the Homeland Security Investigations Task Force.
Hanson is being held on a $100,000 bond. His court date was set for Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
