New Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - A New Haven teacher is under arrest and facing charges after police say he exchanged inappropriate text messages with a student.

Thomas Fargeorge, 42, is charged.

Last October, a parent reported the Benjamin Jepson Magnet School math teacher to the school system.

Police say while none of the messages were sexual in nature and nothing physical took place, they were questionable given his role as a teacher.

Detectives say Fargeorge and his 13-year-old former student exchanged the messages over several months, usually late at night or very early in the morning.

Fargeorge is facing a charge of harmful communication with a minor.

He's free on bond.
