HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The Sugar Hill Gang are going to play a date at Dunkin’ Park after a Yard Goats Game later this season.
The Hip Hop Pioneers, with their legendary single “Rappers Delight," will perform following the Yard Goats Game at Dunkin' Park in Hartford on Friday, September 5th.
The Yard Goats, in a statement, say the concert was added in appreciation for their fans and sponsors who continue to support the team in its 10th anniversary.
“Rappers Delight,” which was the first commercial rap record ever made, later went on to become the largest selling 12” single of all time with over 15 million records sold.
The Sugarhill Gang helped pave the way for other rap artists and introduced the genre to a broader market.
