Trumbull, Conn./WTIC Radio - Police in Trumbull are looking for suspects in a smash and grab robbery Wednesday at a town jewelry store.

They say three masked thieves stole thousands of dollars in gems from the Kay Jewelers store in the Trumbull Mall on Main Street.

It was around 1:45 p.m. that officers say witnesses told them they thought the breaking of glass was gunshots.

Police later determined no weapons were involved.

The suspects made their escape in a dark, four-door sedan.

The exact dollar amount on the stolen merchandise is still being calculated.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Trumbull police.
