Cheshire, Conn./WTIC Radio - Police in Cheshire say they're preparing to make an arrest in connection with vandalism to a field in town.

On Monday, they received a report that there was significant damage done by a vehicle to the Cheshire High School band field.

Initial estimates put the cost of the destruction at $5,000, police said.

The final repair costs will be determined once contractors finish their assessments.

Detectives said they were able to identify a juvenile suspect through the use of a Flock license plate reader camera system.

That person will face criminal mischief charges and will likely be made to pay for the damage.

Police lauded the use of the Flock system, along with traffic speed cameras that have gone up in some towns, which have drawn criticism over privacy concerns.
