
Boston, MA/WTIC Radio - The National Weather Service in Boston says it was an EF-1 tornado that touched down Friday in the town of Scotland in Windham County.
The twister was one of five confirmed in Southern New England, all part of a cluster of thunderstorms that rolled through during the morning hours.
The tornado touched down at 7:53 a.m. on Bass Road and was on the ground for about six minutes to Route 14 before lifting near Brook Road.
The weather service says top winds reached 100 mph.
The storm was about 200 yards in width and traveled roughly 2.7 miles.
There were no injuries.
The weather service says over 100 trees came down, many that were either knocked over or that had the tops sheared off.
