TORRINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A city resident has been charged with first-degree assault in a Sunday afternoon stabbing incident, police said.
David Cruz, 28, stabbed a 17-year old, according to authorities. This incident took place Sunday afternoon just before 2 p.m., police said.
The victim, according to authorities, was discovered on the sidewalk on Highland Avenue, suffering from a stab wound to the stomach.
The teen was transported to Waterbury Hospital and rushed to the emergency room in critical condition, authorities said.
The teenager is expected to be transferred to either Connecticut Children's Medical Center or Yale New Haven Hospital.
Cruz is being held on $500,000.00 bond and due in court on Tuesday, police said.
Since the incident involves a juvenile and is a domestic violence incident, no further information is being released at this time, according to police.
