Troopers complete Route 15 traffic safety initiative

Middletown, Conn./WTIC Radio - State police are releasing details of an initiative along Route 15 that saw over 170 motor vehicle stops for various violations.

Troopers conducted the detail from Meriden to Greenwich from February 18th through the 24th.

Police stopped 157 passenger vehicles and doled out 150 infractions.

In addition, there were 51 commercial inspections and 20 commercial stops resulting in nearly $8000.00 in fines.

Commercial vehicles are banned from the merrit and wilbur cross parkways.

Interim Colonel Daniel Loughman said “At the State Police, we are focused on reducing fatal traffic collisions, deterring speeding and aggressive driving, and obtaining voluntary compliance of traffic laws.  I applaud the efforts of our Traffic Services Unit, whose members conducted this successful, intensive effort in just a week-long span.”
