WOODSTOCK, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police are investigating an armed home invasion in the eastern Connecticut town of Woodstock.

Troopers responded to a bystander's report around 11:58 a.m. Wednesday that two men had entered through a window of a second floor apartment.

Responding troopers went to the residence and spoke with a woman who initially said no one else was inside, but she later admitted that there were three other people in the home, two of whom weren't invited.

She said the two gained entrance through a side window and that they were in possession of a baseball bat and a handgun.

After hours of attempting to have the suspects leave the residence, one of the suspects, identified as Reuben Field, 39, of Putnam, exited the residence and was taken into custody.

Efforts continued into late night hours to get the other suspect out of the residence, at which time troopers say Mark Racine, 37, of Willington, fled through a window toward a treeline but was taken into custody.

It was later learned the two traveled to the residence in a stolen vehicle.

Both Field and Racine are charged with home invasion, first-degree burglary, first offense larceny of a motor vehicle, and interference with an officer and resisting.

Bond is $100,000 with a court date of May 16, 2024 at Danielson Superior Court.
