BRISTOL, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Bristol Police make two arrests in connection with a deadly child abuse investigation that began earlier this year.

Police say they responded to the report of a two-year-old child who fell down a flight of stairs on January 19, 2024.

CPR was attempted on the child who was later pronounced dead at Bristol Hospital.

An investigation determined the child, who was found that day with an abnormal amount of injuries, had been physically abused for a period of time.

Police are now charging Luis Dejesus, 24, and Alyjah Almodovar, 22, in the case.

Almodovar is charged with risk of injury to a minor and intentional cruelty to persons. Bond is $100,000.

Dejesus is charged with first-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault, risk of injury to a child, intentional cruelty to persons, and false statement. Bond is $1,000,000.

Dejesus was already in the custody of the Department of Corrections on charges stemming from another Bristol Police investigation. Those offenses include illegal firearms and narcotics possession.
