Two Norwalk police officers arrested

Found together in hotel room while on-duty

Officers Michael Dimeglio and Sara Laudano
Norwalk Police Department

NORWALK, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Norwalk Police say two department officers have turned themselves in to face charges related to an incident in October.

Dispatchers were unable to reach on-duty officers Michael Dimeglio and Sara Laudano by phone or radio around 12:47 a.m. on October 10.

Using the Automatic Vehicle Locating System, another officer traced the two to the Even Hotel on Main Avenue. Supervisors responded to the location, as well.

Hotel management informed police the two were in a room at the hotel. Supervisors went to the room and found the officers "not in a condition to respond to calls for service."

The officers were placed on administrative leave.

Laudano, 31, has been charged with larceny, reckless endangerment, and risk of injury to a child. Dimeglio, 38, has been charged with larceny and reckless endangerment. Both turned themselves in on Tuesday, January 5. Bond was set at $75,000. They are both due in court on February, 16.

Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling, in a written statement through Norwalk Police, says he is appalled by the behavior of the on-duty officers but he is "proud of the professional manner in which the patrol supervisors of this department initiated this complaint and the subsequent criminal investigation conducted by the Detective Division supervisors."

The department says no further comment is available until the disciplinary process is complete.
