An apology has been issued by the University of Connecticut after students were given an assignment that mentioned the name of the 2012 Sandy Hook mass murderer.
It was a cybersecurity assignment, explains UConn, in a statement.
Students in the assignment had been asked to determine an account holder's password. In the assignment, the name of the shooter was used as the name of the account holder.
In its statement, UConn says some students "were understandably troubled and dismayed by this." The school acknowledges that "the assignment's use of that specific name was needless."
