UConn emergency personnel responded shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday to an incident in front of the University Safety Complex on North Eagleville Road, where officials say the student was struck by a passenger vehicle.
He was transported from the scene by ambulance and taken by LifeStar to Hartford Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment.
The driver of the car is not affiliated with the University.
Preliminary interviews with witnesses and video in the area indicate the pedestrian entered the road in front of the vehicle, which did not have time to stop.
As of Saturday morning, the student's condition isn't known. However, he is conscious and alert, according to UConn officials.
The incident remains under investigation.
