Storrs, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - One of the stars of the UConn women's basketball team will be out up to two months with a leg fracture.
Sophomore guard Paige Bueckers was injured in the Huskies win over Notre Dame Sunday.
Doctors say the 20-year-old has a "tibial plateau fracture", which is a break in the upper part of the shinbone.
Bueckers sustained the non-contact injury in the waning minutes of the game on Sunday.
She is expected to be out between 6-and-8 weeks.
Bueckers currently leads UConn in scoring with a 21.2 points-per-game average.
She also averages 6.2 assists and 5.5 rebounds.
Coach Geno Auriemma said "everyone involved with this program will be there to support Paige through her healing process".
