Victims in New Haven double homicide named

New Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - New Haven police officials have released the names of two men found shot over the weekend in a parked car and later died.

Just before 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, 40-year-old Marquis Darnell McNeil and 27-year-old Jonathan Garcia, both of New Haven, were found in a vehicle parked on Winthrop Avenue.

Both had gunshot wounds, police said.

McNeil was prnounced dead at the scene.

Garcia later died at Yale New Haven Hospital.

A person of interest is in police custody and detectives are working other leads.

Both victims appeared to have been targeted, according to police.

New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson said “I detest this senseless loss of life through gun violence. Although we are unable to prevent all crimes, we will devote every resource necessary to bring justice to the victims’ families.”
