Meriden, Conn./WTIC Radio - A man is dead following a crash Monday night in Meriden.
According to Connecticut State Police, just before 8:30 p.m., a vehicle driven by John Ireton, Sr., 67, of Waterbury, was traveling in the left lane of I-691 west prior to exit 3.
Investigators say he somehow lost control of his car, leaving the roadway and entering the right shoulder.
Ireton struck a guardrail and then the rear of a tractor trailer that had been traveling on the right side of the highway.
He was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The truck driver was not hurt.
The investigation is ongoing.
