WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The West Hartford Police Department is going live with a body-worn camera program starting Monday, February 14th, the department announced on Friday.
WHPD purchased 140 body-worn cameras as well as updated in-car camera systems from Axon, according to a press release issued by the department. Every sworn member has been assigned a camera and trained on their use.
After the passage of CT House Bill 6004, “An Act Concerning Police Accountability”, in 2020, body-worn cameras are now required for all police departments in Connecticut. The current deadline for implementation is July.
