WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police arrest a West Haven man who they say drove recklessly on I-91 on Wednesday.
Troopers say Oliver Thomas, 24, of West Haven, was clocked on radar driving a 2004 Toyota Camry around 94 miles per hour at 10:11 a.m. Wednesday.
Thomas didn't pull over for troopers when they started to go after him.
It was then observed how Thomas allegedly attempted to get away from police by driving in the shoulder and gore of the highway, nearly striking other vehicles.
It was during that pursuit the Toyota reached 126 miles per hour.
Troopers ended the pursuit in the interests of public safety and tracked the New York plates on the Camry to a residence in West Haven.
Family at the residence made contact with Thomas, who admitted to driving the Camry in the incident, according to State Police.
He turned himself in at 12:48 p.m. to face charges including reckless driving, disobeying the signal of an officer, passing on the right, interfering with an officer/resisting, failure to maintain lane, improper turn, and first degree reckless endangerment.
Bond is $10,000 with an arraignment scheduled for December 20, 2024 at Meriden Superior Court.
