Southington, Conn./WTIC Radio - Southington police are charging a woman with animal cruelty.
They say on April 15, Ana Rodriguez, 65, of New Britain left a kitten and cat in a WalMart in a parking lot on Queen Street.
Officers say witnesses told animal control officers Rodriguez then got in her vehicle and as she was leaving, proceeded to run the kitten over, killing it.
The older cat had a compound leg fracture that required amputation.
Rodriguez turned herself in this week and later arrested.
She initially denied abandoning the cats but later recanted her story.
She's now free on bond, facing two counts of animal cruelty when she appears in court May 20th.
