West Haven fire officials say an unconscious elderly woman was rescued from a burning home that injured her and an elderly man early Saturday morning.
A neighbor reported a fire on Malcolm Rod around 3:20 a.m.
Crews arrived to find a heavy, well-involved fire that was consuming the home.
Firefighters found a dazed elderly man outside of the house, suffering from smoke inhalation issues.
As crews began working the home, an elderly woman was found unconscious inside.
Both are being treated for serious and critical injuries at the Bridgeport Hospital Burn Center and Yale New Haven Hospital.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
