Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - The Hartford Yard Goats will have a new manager for the 2026 season.
The team is announcing the hiring of former New York Mets catcher Robinson Cancel.
The 49-year-old from Puerto Rico has spent the last three seasons managing at Class-A Spokane.
His team won a Northwest League championship in 2024.
Cancel was originally drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 1994 and played parts of four seasons with the Brewers, Mets and Houston Astros.
This will be Cancel's 10th season in the Colorado Rockies organization.
He takes over for Bobby Meacham, the former Yankees infielder, who managed the Goats the last two seasons.
Cancel will be formally introduced at a 2:00 p.m. news conference Wednesday at Dunkin' Park.
