(Milford, Conn./WTIC) - Milford police say a man is under arrest, charged with harassing another for simply wearing a mask outdoors.

The alleged incident occurred on Tuesday.

Police say 38-year-old Joseph Rohrig pulled his vehicle up alongside a man walking in the area of Hill and West Town Streets, berating the alleged victim for wearing a mask and telling him to "go back to China".

It was shortly thereafter that officers say Rohig aimed his vehicle toward the other man.

With assistance from the victim, police were able to track down Rohrig and place him under arrest on Thursday.

He's charged with harassment and intimidation based on  bigotry and bias.

Rohrig is free on a written promise to appear in court May 10.
