(Storrs, Conn./WTIC) - A modified quarantine of all dorms at UConn's residential campus goes into effect later today.
The school's associate vice president and dean of students says that quarantine takes place beginning at 5:00 this evening.
According to officials, students under the modified quarantine will follow all quarantine procedures with the exceptions of attending class in person and participating in clinical placement or essential research functions at UConn.
Students will be allowed to go to other academic activities, pick up food at dining halls, go out for walks away from others, and participate in COVID-19 testing.
Otherwise, students must remain in their dorms, refrain from gatherings, follow medical advice and wear face masks.
Earlier this week, five dorms were placed in quarantine. Today's action brings that number to ten.
In addition, all students planning to leave for the Thanksgiving break must take an exit test for coronavirus.
University officials say in-person student activities and use of the Rec Center are suspended through next Friday.
