(New Haven, Conn./WTIC) - State Police have made an arrest in a fatal hit-and-run crash on Interstate 95 this morning that left a motorcyclist dead.
Troopers say just before 12:30 a.m., 19-year-old Ricardo Figueroa-Garcia was traveling near northbound exit 47 in the right lane when the driver of a black 1991 Acura Integra changed lanes at a high rate of speed, striking the motorcyclist.
Figureroa-Garcia was thrown from the bike on to the highway and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators identify the driver of the Acura as Gamalier Estrada, 25, of New Haven. He allegedly ditched the vehicle on the right shoulder and fled the scene.
Norwich Police helped State Police arrest Estrada around 3:20 a.m. Saturday.
Estrada has been charged with evading responsibility resulting in death and violating an active protective order. Bond is $1.25 million.
Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday in New Haven Superior Court.
