Five people in Illinois are walking around as millionaires and they might not even know it.
According to the Illinois Lottery, there are still five unclaimed lottery tickets valued at least $1 million each: two Mega Millions, two Lucky Day Lotto, and one Lotto.
The five tickets were all sold in various locations in Illinois this year, so there's still some time for the lucky winners to claim their prizes.
Before the earnings are forfeited, winners have one year from the drawing date to claim them.
The big winners waiting to be claimed include:
• Mega Millions, Jan. 14 - $1,000,002: sold at 7-Eleven, 847 N. Dodge Ave. Evanston, IL 60202
• Lucky Day Lotto, Mar. 16 – $1,050,000: sold at Walmart, 1100 S. Randall Rd. Elgin, IL 60123
• Lucky Day Lotto, Apr. 8 – $1,000,001: sold at Family Pantry, 9259 Waukegan Rd. Morton Grove, IL 60053
• Lotto, Apr. 14 – $1,000,000: sold at BP Amoco, 5548 W. 159th St. Oak Forest, IL 60452
• Mega Millions, Apr. 15 – $1,000,002: sold at Circle K, 460 S. Mclean Blvd. Elgin, IL 60123
Additionally, there are five unclaimed prizes worth between $100,000 and $475,000 -- including two Powerball and three Lucky Day Lotto tickets.
Winners of Mega Millions, Powerball and Lotto may choose a lump sum payment or annuity payments. In order to opt for the lump sum payment, the prize must be claimed within 60 days of the drawing date. Winners who claim after that time can only receive the annuity payment.
If you happen to have one of these lucky tickets, you must make an appointment at a lottery Claim Center to collect your winnings.
