The Harris-Walz campaign is getting some support from some of the governor's former students.

Angie Brenner remembers how she felt growing up as an Korean American, living in Southern Minnesota and how then teacher Tim Walz made her feel at Mankato West High School.

"The resounding sentiment that I remember is that I always felt safe within the walls of the school and that I always felt that I belonged as part of a community," Brenner says.

Brenner and other former students spoke of the impact that both Tim and Gwen Walz had on them during their formative years, and how they have incorporated those values into their own lives.

Dan Clement described himself an independent voter. That is until "coach" got on the ticket.

"That man did a lot for me in my life and I owe him the support that he's going to get from me," Clement said.

Students also shared what it was like having Mr. Walz as a teacher.

"I would say that nine out of 10 people, said 'Tim Walz is my favorite teacher', and the other one, they probably never took geography," one of them joked.

The former students say they plan to write postcards and go door-knocking to try to get Walz from Mankato West to the White House.
