President-elect Donald Trump met with world leaders in Paris, France, over the weekend at the ceremonial reopening of the Notre Dame cathedral.
Among those to attend the ceremony included Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Prince William, French President Emmanuel Macron, and several other high-profile celebrities.
Trump reportedly enjoyed the time he spent at the event with the Prince of Wales, noting that William was a “great man.”
According to Kensington Palace, the pair had a “warm, friendly meeting” at the ceremony, including a meeting after the event.
According to the New York Post, the two spoke for about 40 minutes after the event at the residence of the British Ambassador in Paris.
Both men posed for photos and could be seen shaking hands. The Post reported that Trump praised Prince William, saying, “Great man, this one. He’s going to do a fantastic job.”
“The pair discussed a range of global issues but focused on the importance of the UK/US special relationship. President Trump also shared some warm and fond memories with The Prince about the Late Queen for which [His Royal Highness] was extremely grateful,” Kensington Palace said.
First Lady Jill Biden also attended the ceremony in Paris, and the BBC reported that Prince William was also expected to meet with her as her husband, President Joe Biden, wasn’t able to attend.
Trump last met with the prince in 2019 when he was serving his first term and visited the UK and the late Queen Elizabeth II.
The event in Paris celebrated the reopening of the iconic Notre Dame cathedral five years after a devastating fire broke out inside, resulting in it being closed for repair.
